West Dorset’s MP, Chris Loder, has called for the UK’s food self-sufficiency to be ‘way above’ current levels. At present, the UK is 60% self-sufficient in all foods but relies heavily on imports of fruit and vegetables.
West Dorset’s water companies will soon face a fourfold increase in inspections as part of the Government’s plan to tackle illegal discharges and poor performance. Chris Loder MP welcomes the plans, which the Environment Agency has already started.

Chris Loder, MP for West Dorset, last week supported the passage of the Pet Abduction Bill to the Report Stage in Parliament. The Pet Abduction Bill will make dog and cat abduction a specific offence and make provisions against the abduction of other animals commonly kept as pets.
