For some time now Chris Loder MP has been campaigning for improved train frequency and better maintained stations on the Heart of Wessex line that runs from Yeovil to Weymouth.
This is a line providing a key public rail service to Thornford, Yetminster, Chetnole and Maiden Newton and one which has so much potential. The line links us with other places such as Bristol, Bath and Bradford on Avon; through upcoming market towns like Frome and Bruton and on to our own West Dorset villages and county town of Dorchester before heading to Dorset’s popular coastal resort of Weymouth.
Chris feels very strongly that if support and funding can go to HS2, then we can also do better for our transport links here in West Dorset. Chris been working hard behind the scenes with the Minister of State, Department for Transport officials and Great Western Railway (GWR) to achieve these much-needed improvements.
