Chris Loder, MP for West Dorset, has reaffirmed his commitment to tackling livestock worrying through legislation. The local MP has been spearheading a campaign over the last 18 months to ensure that the matter is included in legislation. It follows the death of Gladis, a pregnant Highland cow, that fell 40ft at Eggardon Hill after being chased by two dogs. Mr Loder met with Gladis’s owner, Cameron Farquharson, at the Melplash Show on the 3rd September to discuss progress with the campaign. The local farmer previously visited 10 Downing Street with Mr Loder to raise the issue. Mr Loder said:
“While the Kept Animals Bill was stopped a few months ago, we’re now looking to bring forward specific legislation to tackle livestock worrying. I hope that will start to take place after the King's Speech in November, and all being well, we can make Gladis’ Law a reality.”
