Chris Loder, MP for West Dorset, has welcomed Ofgem’s announcement that a further reduction in the energy price cap will take place for the last quarter of 2023 (1st October to 31st December). The reduction means that the average dual-fuel energy bill will be below £2,000 per year for the first time since April 2022. Speaking about the announcement, the local MP said:
“Wholesale energy prices have dropped to the lowest level since October 2021, meaning that constituents in West Dorset should begin to start feeling the financial benefits over the next few months. The market is gradually stabilising and suppliers are returning to a healthier financial position”
“Nonetheless, I will work on behalf of all my constituents to ensure that the energy companies actually pass this reduction onto their customers. Moreover, not all of my constituents are fortunate enough to have a dual-fuel energy supply, and I will lobbying the relevant parties to ensure that the same level of support exists for those in more rural areas, which I have publicly campaigned for.”
