Chris Loder, MP for West Dorset, has called for the Dentistry Minister to deliver on the specific measures for rural areas included in the Government’s recently unveiled Plan to Recover and Reform NHS Dentistry. Mr Loder, who has consistently campaigned for improvements to regional NHS dentistry, wants to see the implementation of mobile dental provision and financial incentives for dentists this year.
The local MP said: “West Dorset, with its rural and coastal communities, is a high priority for NHS dental services. The improvements outlined in the Plan to Recover and Reform NHS Dentistry are needed. Proposals include mobile dental provision, financial incentives for dentists, and an uplift in the minimum payment for units of dental activity (UDAs) – rising to £28 a year.”
He added: “I’d like to see the implementation of these improvements this year and I will continue to push the Minister to ensure that my constituents can access an NHS dentist. I have also written to Dorset NHS ICB, which has responsibility for the commissioning of dental services.”
