Chris Loder, MP for West Dorset, spoke in Parliament on the 20th November to reaffirm his support for the region’s helicopter industry. Mr Loder urged the Minister to push ahead with upcoming contracts for New Medium-sized Helicopters (NMH); local manufacturer Leonardo UK, based in neighbouring Yeovil, is a large employer of local people and West Dorset constituents. Mr Loder said:
“We are so fortunate in West Dorset to have the Home of British Helicopters, Leonardo UK, on our doorstep, which is a significant employer and magnificent contributor to our local economy. It’s important that our helicopter industry continues to thrive, and I’ll continually drive for more investment in this sector and our region. At a time of heightened international relations, it’s important that we have world-leading defence capabilities in the world – helicopters form an integral part of this.”
