Chris Loder, MP for West Dorset, appeared as a guest on the BBC’s Politics South West programme on Sunday 3rd February. Community pharmacies and Council Tax were among the topics debated by Mr Loder and Liz Leyshon, Deputy Leader of Somerset Council, and Tudor Evans, Leader of Plymouth City Council.
Mr Loder said: “I was pleased to be able to address the situation of our community pharmacies on the programme. We are fortunate that our pharmacies are supported by local communities on a daily basis and that, as a result, some pharmacies are even expanding. In addition, 95% of community pharmacies in England have signed up to the Government’s £645 million Pharmacy First scheme, which provides financial investment to support the sector.”
He added: “I was also pleased to discuss Council Tax. For residents of neighbouring Somerset, at all tiers – parish, town, and county – residents are facing prospective tax increases on an unprecedented level, and a council budget with a £100m black hole."
