At Transport Select Committee I praised the National Federation of Women's Institutes (NFWI) for its excellent work on rural bus strategy whilst questioning the Buses Minister (Baroness Charlotte Vere) about local transport provision in rural areas. The NFWI’s report on the National Bus Strategy was excellent and I asked the Minister to review this report, saying that ‘it’s an excellent document and I commend it to you’.
The WI is a very wholesome, real, and grounded organisation and their insights are grounded and representative of real communities. I am a strong supporter of the WI, both in Dorset and further afield. Their work over the pandemic, helping hospitals and communities, has been invaluable and I commend their continued response and commentary on national issues.
