West Dorset MP Chris Loder has been challenging water companies on sewage outflows in the region. This comes as the Government announces a major Environment Agency/OFWAT investigation after some water companies in the UK were found to have been in breach of their permits.
Chris said “over the last few weeks, I have been pursuing the water companies operating in West Dorset for information on sewage outflows. I have challenged one water company on the high readings for discharges in one particular outflow in Charmouth and an investigation is currently taking place.”
Assurances have been made by the water companies to the MP that funds have been made available to invest wherever is necessary to deal with the issue.
Chris continued, “I will be following the investigation closely to make sure these requirements are met along with continuing to monitor this situation closely so our beaches and waterways in West Dorset are as clean as possible.”
