Chris Loder, MP for West Dorset, has expressed his support for community and heritage organisations in West Dorset to apply to Historic England for Working Class Heritage grants. The grants, which range from £1,000 to £25,000, will fund community-led, people-focussed projects to tell the stories of people and places missing from the records of history. Speaking about the new funding round, the local MP said:
“West Dorset is rich with working-class histories, but as is often the case with historiography, these stories are overlooked and forgotten. Our many pubs, farms, factories, football clubs and council estates have untold stories to tell. I would encourage any community and heritage organisations in West Dorset to apply; I would be more than happy to assist, and to provide my support.”
