Chris Loder, MP for West Dorset, has hailed a new bus service serving the villages of Hilton, Ansty, Melcombe Bingham, Cheselbourne, and Dewlish. Mr Loder was elected to bring West Dorset more frequent, wide-reaching, and accessible bus routes. The new Dorchester ‘E’ PlusBus is operated by Dorset Community Transport and has been funded by Dorset Council, running fortnightly on Wednesdays.
The local MP was on the inaugural bus service from Dorchester to Ansty on the 20th September, with Tim Christian, General Manager of Dorset Community Transport, and many local residents. Speaking about the new service, the Mr Loder said: “This new service offers a lifeline for residents of all ages in the villages of Hilton, Ansty, Melcombe Bingham, Cheselbourne, and Dewlish. It is just one of many that Dorset Community Transport operates in West Dorset. The fortnightly bus service to Dorchester picks residents up at their front door for just £7, or free with a national bus pass.”
Mr Loder continued: “This bus service would not be possible without the hard-work of Carol Eastment, Chair of Melcombe Horsey Parish Council; Tim Christian and his team from Dorset Community Transport; and Cllr Jill Haynes. I fully support this new service and I look forward to ensuring it is a success for local residents.”
