Chris Loder, MP for West Dorset, has welcomed Government funding of £624,500 to improve flood resilience for six projects on the river Brit, Simene, Asker and Mangerton. The projects will be delivered by Dorset AONB Partnership, with measures to include flood plain and river restoration.
Mr Loder said: “I’m delighted that West Dorset has been selected as one of 40 successful projects across the UK to benefit from the Natural Flood Management Programme. As part of my Clean Rivers of West Dorset taskforce, I’ve been working closely with our local river representatives to secure greater recognition of the challenges our waterways face.”
He added: “The Dorset AONB Partnership will deliver the projects, which once completed will reduce flood risk to Bridport, Beaminster and Netherbury.”
