Dorset’s roads will receive a record 30% increase in road resurfacing funding, as the MP for West Dorset drives forward his road safety campaign. In the coming months, the Government will be distributing £2,914,000 to Dorset Council for resurfacing and maintenance work. Chris Loder MP has persistently campaigned to improve the condition of the roads in West Dorset.
He said: “A record amount of funding will be distributed to Dorset Council to improve the condition of our local roads and other highway assets. It’s good news for my road safety campaign, as I’ve worked hard to secure this funding and to ensure the Department for Transport are aware of the situation we face in West Dorset.”
He added: “Over the last few months, we’ve had a number of fatal and near-fatal accidents in the constituency. It’s imperative that the basic condition of our roads is up to standard, along with markings and cats-eyes. This funding will go some way towards addressing this.”
